Blackjack calculator

How to Use – Step-by-Step Guide

1. Open the calculator

The Blackjack Calculator is at the bottom of the page. The tool shows three dropdowns for Player Card 1, Player Card 2, and Dealer Upcard, plus a few rule toggles and action buttons.

2. Select the two player cards

Use Player Card 1 and Player Card 2 to choose the two cards you were dealt (A, 2–10, J, Q, K).
Example: select A and 7 if your hand is Ace + 7.

3. Select the dealer’s upcard

Choose the dealer’s visible card from the Dealer Upcard dropdown (A, 2–10, J, Q, K).

4. (Optional) Adjust table rules

If you want the recommendation to reflect the table you’re playing at, toggle these options:

  • S17 — dealer stands on soft 17 (checked by default).

  • DAS — double after split allowed (checked by default).

  • Surrender — whether surrender is allowed.

  • Decks — choose number of decks (1, 4, 6, 8).

Tip: leave default settings if you’re unsure — they match the most common online tables.

5. Press Calculate

Click Calculate to get the recommended basic-strategy move. The result appears in the Recommended Action area.

6. Read and follow the recommendation

The calculator returns one of the standard plays:

  • Hit — take another card.

  • Stand — keep your current total.

  • Double — double your bet and take exactly one more card (only allowed on some hands).

  • Split — split a pair into two hands (requires an additional equal bet).

If the table rule prevents a suggested move (e.g., Double not allowed), the calculator may display the next-best action.

7. Reset or try other hands

Press Reset to clear the selections and test different hands or dealer upcards.

Quick examples

  • Player A + 7 vs Dealer 9 → Calculator likely recommends Hit (soft 18 vs 9).

  • Player 10 + 6 vs Dealer 6 → Calculator likely recommends Stand.

  • Pair 8 + 8 vs Dealer 5 → Calculator recommends Split.

(These are illustrative — always check the calculator result for exact play)
